OF ‘4400’ ON THE CW

- BY GEORGE DICKIE

Were you a fan of the original 2004-07 USA Network series “The 4400”?

You know, I didn’t watch the show before getting the audition. I had always seen the thumbnail on Netflix of the original but I didn’t actually start watching it until after I booked the role, just to get an idea what the premise was, sort of maybe how it was different from the

reboot. No, I wasn’t familiar beforehand.

How was it for you doing the mental gymnastics of your character jumping from 2005 to 2021 and back? (Laughs) I mean, it’s definitely challenging, just the technical aspect of shooting a show where sometimes we don’t shoot things in order. So not shooting things in order is already like a mental trip sometimes and then adding this element of like at one point I’m in 2021 and in another scene I’m in 2005. That’s definitely a struggle because the world of 2005 and the world of 2021, it doesn’t feel like it was that long ago but they’re two very

different worlds . ...

And then also on a more personal sort of side ... one minute I am with this

man and I’m trying to build a family with this man and figure out this life with this guy who’s my life partner, and then the next minute I come face to face with him and I’m looked at a little bit like an alien, like “How on earth did you get here?” So it’s disorienting for the guy who plays my husband, Logan (Cory Jeacoma), but it’s also extremely disorienting for Shanice because she’s constantly battling with this idea of like, “No, you are my husband but now I also have to come to terms with the fact that you’re not. It doesn’t mean the same thing. We’re not experiencing the

same reality.”
