Holocaust programs at the library
The main Yuma Library will present the following programs as part of the “americans and the Holocaust” exhibit:
museum that examines the motives, pressures and fears that shaped americans’ responses to nazism, war and genocide in europe during the 1930s and 1940s.
americans and the Holocaust will be on display at the main Library, along with a series of related special events, from december 1, 2021, to January 14, 2022. There is no charge to see the exhibit or attend any events.
• Wednesday, dec. 15, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
“I’m Still Here”: This documentary uses diary entries who lived during the Holocaust and powerful images to teach a new generation about the
pain of the past and hope of a future. age appropriate for ages 11 and older.
• Friday, dec. 17, 2 to 3:30 p.m. “remembering Victims, Honoring Survivors”: arizona Western college Profession monica Ketchum will discuss how the american public memorialized the Holocaust in communities throughout
the country, from sculptures in parks and cemeteries to standalone memorials and museums.
• Saturday, dec. 18, 1 to 2:30 p.m.
“arizonans and the Holocaust”: arizona Western college monica Ketchum will discuss discuss news coverage of nazi Germany and the Holocaust in arizona and how
residents of the state reacted. Topics include the History unfolded project and Holocaust memorial projects in arizona.
