Tuesday April 26 HISTORIC YUMA HISTORY TOUR

GOING ON: The Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area is bringing Yuma’s history to different locations throughout Yuma County. Tina Clark, the YCNHA Historian, will be sharing Yuma’s beginning to present day. Wednesday April 27 ODYSSEY OF THE MIND TAKEOVER AT LUTES

WHEN: 4-8 p.m.

WHERE: Lutes Casino, 221 S Main St. GOING ON: The Ron Watson Middle School and East Valley Odyssey of the Mind teams have qualified to compete at the World Finals coming up at the end of May at Iowa State University. A portion of the evening’s dining proceeds and a fun silent auction will help raise funds needed to get these creative problem solving students to the Finals to compete with teams from all over the world.

Friday April 29 DRIVE THRU BBQ

WHEN: 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

WHERE: Parking lot behind Navy Federal Credit Union, enter through 17th St on Arizona Ave.

GOING ON: Delicious “you’re gonna want more” chicken (boneless, skinless, marinated, grilled chicken thighs), coleslaw, beans, and dessert! 100% of proceeds will benefit the new Men’s Shelter building at Crossroads Mission.

GOING ON: Kiran Hill, former Marine Corps officer, and Joshua Stanwitz, former Marine and National Guard member, will speak on realism and restraint in foreign policy. Audience Q&A will follow, and scholarshi­ps will be awarded to Yuma individual­s.

Saturday May 14 MCAS YUMA MUD RUN CHALLENGE

WHEN: Heats begin at 6:30 a.m.

WHERE: Marine Corps Air Station Yuma GOING ON: Presented by Marine Raiders, the MCAS Yuma Mud Run Challenge features a custom-built course of 2.7 miles of desert terrain, plus 8 obstacles. Open to ages 13 and up. All participan­ts and spectators must have a ticket to attend. Spectator tickets are for those who do not have base access.
