DEMOLITION DERBY

WHEN: Gates open at 5 p.m., action starts at 8.

WHERE: Cocopah Speedway, 3450 W. County 15th St., Somerton

GOING ON: A power wheels balloon derby for ages 4-7, a power wheels balloon round-up for 2-3 year olds, with water slides and water balloon tosses, followed by a demolition derby at 8 p.m.

COST: General admission, $10; kids 5 and under are free.

4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS SPECTACULA­R

WHEN: 6-9 p.m.

WHERE: Ray Kroc Sports Complex, 1280 W. Desert Hills Drive

GOING ON: The City of Yuma’s Fireworks Spectacula­r features live music from Radical Rewind and DJ – BMC Production, a Kids Zone, Food Vendors, Drinks, and a 20-minute Fireworks Spectacula­r Show featuring more than 750 fireworks shells/ effects.

COST: $1 – cash only. Children ages 3 and under are free.

Sunday July 3 EARLY INDEPENDEN­CE DAY CELEBRATIO­N

WHEN: The event starts at 6 p.m., with fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

WHERE: Paradise Casino’s south parking lot, 450 Quechan Drive in Winterhave­n

GOING ON: Performanc­es, fireworks, free popcorn, cotton candy, snowcones, soft drinks and water, jumpers and carnival games for children.

Monday July 4 4TH OF JULY FLAG RAISING CEREMONY

WHEN: 7 a.m.

WHERE: Armed Forces Park, 291 S. Gila St., Yuma

GOING ON: Join the Cabelleros de Yuma for a brief ceremony observing our nation’s birthday and honoring our local military.

Saturday July 16 BACK TO SCHOOL RODEO

WHEN: Starts at 7 a.m., while supplies last

WHERE: Yuma Civic Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Drive

GOING ON: The City of Yuma’s 11th annual Back to School Rodeo is a family-friendly event providing the necessary school supplies kids need! The event is a drive thru where you will pull up to the front of the Yuma Civic Center and receive a backpack filled with school supplies. The first 2,000 children will receive a FREE synch style backpack filled with school supplies! (Child must be present. One backpack per child.) COST: Free
