HÀ TĨNH Many young people with bold ideas and daring actions have succeeded in building brands for their products under the One Commune, One Product (OCOP) programme, contributing to increasing incomes and creating jobs for local residents in the northern province of Hà Tĩnh.

Nguyễn Hữu Duẩn in Lưu Vĩnh Sơn Commune, Thạch Hà District, is one of the young people with his products – giò (steamed pork paste) and chả (deep-fried cinnamon pork paste) – being recognised as a three-star OCOP product.

Duẩn's shop supplies up to 600 rolls of steamed pork paste and dozens of kilos of deep-fried cinnamon pork paste to the market on peak days.

Annually, he earned hundreds of millions of đồng.

He said he used to work as a waiter in restaurants in Thailand. By 2019, he returned to his hometown and was determined to open a facility for producing giò (steamed pork paste) and chả (deep-fried cinnamon pork paste).

Thanks to financial support from the local youth union, he quickly established the brand Thành Duẩn steamed pork paste

and deep-fried cinnamon pork paste, then gained a foothold in the local and provincial markets.

The province also has many award-winning entrepreneurial models in various fields, such as "Cultivating Cordyceps militaris"

of Nguyễn Thành Luân in Quang Diệm Commune, Hương Sơn District; the deer-raising farm of Nguyễn Hồng Tiệp in Sơn Giang Commune, Hương Sơn District, or the project "Sustainable agriculture combined with experiential tourism T3 Farm" of Trần Thanh Truyền, in Đoan Đức Thọ District.

Currently, the province has more than 1,000 large-scale youth economic models and over 1,700 small and medium-sized effective business models.

Apart from traditional models, the province has over 300 innovative youth start-up models, applying scientific and technological advancements, and digital technology into production, resulting in high efficiency.

Deploying the "Supporting Youth Entrepreneurship Programme" for the 2022-30 period, youth unions at all levels in the province have carried out activities supporting youth entrepreneurship and innovation, associated with building OCOP products.

Nguyễn Hoài Nam, deputy secretary of the provincial Youth Union, said that the youth union had disseminated policies on entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystem through information channels and social platforms; outlining procedures and ways to develop OCOP products in order to support local young people in realising their dreams, encouraging their passion for innovation and wealth creation in their homeland.

The provincial Youth Union also organised consultations on establishing cooperative groups, helping young people overcome difficulties and obstacles in procedures, effectively utilising preferential loan managed by the union over the past time.
