Chop says coach

By MICHAEL MIYOBA NEWLY Appointed City of Lusaka coach Roberto Landi says the MTN/FAZ super division club will not suffer relegation despite the team languishing in the demotion zone with 11 points from 22 games so far played.

Speaking in a post-match interview after “Yamoto’s” 0-1 defeat to Konkola Blades at Konkola Stadium last Sunday, Landi said City has good players capable of fighting the relegation battle.

“I am confident of fighting relegation because we still have 18 games to play and looking at the teams above us on the league table, we have good players who can help the team to survive relegation but we need all components of the game. Referees should also practice fair play. We lost but I hope we will play better in our next game,

“I’m disappointed because we tried to beat Blades but we lost because of the referee’s mistakes which resulted in Blades scoring the only goal of the game,” Landi said.

And Nchanga Rangers head coach Evans Sakala has condemned the officiating by referee Janny Sikazwe in its 0-1 defeat to Zesco United.

Sikazwe disallowed two goals by Rangers which Sakala felt should have been counted because they were clear goals.

“I don’t have anything to say because every time we play, referees decisions are always against us. We are putting in everything for the team to win but referees are always against Nchanga Rangers,

“We will survive relegation despite the current happenings because we have a good team which is playing well and capable of scoring goals. It’s just unfortunate that the referees are not helping us. We scored two goals which were disallowed but we will just have to focus on our next game because there is nothing we can say for now about what happened,” Sakala said.

Meanwhile Zesco United coach Zlatco Krmpotic says it is not fair that the league leaders are made to play league games without influential players who are with the national team.

Krmpotic however said that he was happy that his boys managed to collect maximum points at Konkola stadium.

“It was a tough game, Nchanga Rangers were a good team but I’m satisfied with the result. The boys played well but it is not fair that we are made to play when most of our players are with the national team,” Krmpotic said.

The league continues this Wednesday with Zesco United taking on Nkana at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
