African politicians should accept poll results

-

Dear Editor,

I WRITE to implore and actually appeal to politicians, especially African politicians to accept the elections results when announced.

Politics is about service to the people and the ballot results should therefore be respected for the sake of peace and democracy.

It is however very unfortunate that most African politicians have taken a greedy stance to always feel they should be the only ones that should win and get into corridors of power.

Most of the elections now are monitored and declared fair and free by nearly all the monitoring world international reknown agencies.

One then wonders why those who accuse various elections bodies get their facts from when the monitoring groups confirm the polls to be free and fair.

Opposition political parties should just learn that politics has advanced and people are abreast with the reality on the ground.

Do not be fooled by the multitude that attend your political rallies because not all of them are your voters but spectators or even spies.

However, most opposition political parties are duped into believing that the higher the turn out of the people the more their votes on the day of elections.

That is far from it; just like not everyone that receive your kickbacks in terms of money or materials would vote for you.

This just shows the hunger for power and one wonders for what reason; surely not to be of service to the people.
