Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka yesterday, Dr Chilufya said, it is unfortunate that other sections of the media wanted to mislead the nation that government has backtracked on this policy, but emphasized that government will remain consistent on its preannouncement that Zambia has adopted the universal routine, HIV testing, counselling and treatment will remain in place.

Dr Chilufya however said, the media should work together with health personnel to ensure that people were enrolled on ART treatment if found positive so that many lives may be protected.

“There has not been any change in government‘s position on HIV testing. The same approach will continue by ensuring that many people are tested and know their status,” said Dr Chilufya.

He said health personnel will continue conducting routine tests for HIV each time a person was unwell. Treatment will be given to ensure that the virus was eradiated completely

Dr Chilufya said, all wellmeaning Zambians must support this political will and translate it into positive action and continue contributing to the national development of the country.
