Ndola council officials remain suspended - LGSC
By VIOLET TEMBO THE Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has not reinstated former Ndola Town clerk Ernest Sumani and four other directors sent on forced leave recently, says chairperson Amos Musonda.
Mr Musonda said the reports going around that LGSC had reinstated the suspended officials were not true. He said in a phone interview with the Daily Nation that investigations in the case of the officers were still on going and that the affected officials remained on suspension.
He emphasised that the matters which were being dealt with by the LGSC and had nothing to do with officials but promised a statement would be issued soon on the matter.
“Those are just rumours, in society one expects rumuors to make rounds especially with the particular issues of that nature we are dealing with at Ndola Council,
“I want to state that no decision has been made. Issues for Ndola City Council are not political but administrative. So investigations are still ongoing,” Mr. Musonda said.
Unconfirmed reports within the council claimed that the five senior officials had been reinstated by the LGSC and had since reported back for work.
A source at the local authority said that the former Town Clerk with the planning officers were recently spotted at the civic centre.
Speculation has arisen following the long period the LGSC had attached to its investigations against the Town Clerk and the four directors, opening the issue to speculations and rumours.
The LGSC in June this year sent Mr Sumani and four directors for the legal, housing, planning and finance departments on forced leave pending investigations.
