16 community schools upgraded in Rufunsa
By KALOBWE BWALYA SIXTEEN community schools have been upgraded to primary schools in Rufunsa which will now see many children accessing education and the number of dropouts reduce, Rufunsa district chairperson Bartholomew Kalambalala has said.
In an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr Kalambalala also disclosed that plans to upgrade Shikabeta Primary School to secondary school were underway.
Mr Kalambalala said due to lack of education facilities in the area, most children were facing challenges in accessing education and some dropped out of school due to the long distance.
He said it was Government’s desire to promote and improve the education sector so that children had access to good quality education.
Mr Kalambalala also, disclosed that work on the Rufunsa technical road has started and thanked the Road Development Agency (RDA) for funding the pro- ject at a cost of K1.1 million and that the council was given about 50 percent.
He said the construction which is being carried by the Zambia National Service (ZNS) was progressing well, and he was hoping it would be completed before the rains.
“I am grateful to government through RDA for funding Rufunsa technical road, because the road was in a deplorable state and pupils were facing challenges in accessing the road especially during the rain season.
