Work on Solwezi roads, council told

-

By JACKSON MAPAPAYI SOME taxi and mini-bus drivers in Muzabula in Kimasala Ward have called on Solwezi Municipal Council and Kimasala councillor Nephan Kamwandi to consider working on the KimasalaMuzabula road before the rains start.

The gravel road was last worked on in 2015 and is in a deplorable state.

Some drivers talked to by the Daily Nation complained that the current state of the road was not pleasing hence the need to work on it.

One of the drivers, Mr Kennedy Muzeya said the road has become a death trap because of the gullies it has developed.

“And if the road is not worked before the onset of the rains, the entire Muzabula community may be cut off because no vehicle will reach the area, Mr Muzeya said.

Another driver, Mr Dennis Kahangu said that the road has been neglected for some time hence its deplorable state.

“Some roads in other areas have been worked on year in year out, but we wonder why this road has not been worked for some time,” Mr Kahangu said.

James, another taxi driver blamed the local authority over the current state of the road. He said that the local authority should consider working on the road as a matter of urgency.

“We don't need to start begging, it is the council's duty to ensure that all feeder roads are worked on including this road,” he said.
