By MUKOSELA KASALWE THE Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) has pledged to continue working with the government following unprecedented infrastructure development in Western Province.

Speaking on behalf of the BRE on Sunday in Sioma during the commissioning of Sankandi health post, induna Muyundwalo said the traditional leadership would continue supporting the government to foster development.

The BRE thanked Government through President Edgar Lungu for its tireless effort to ensure that Western Province was not left out to benefit from infrastructure development taking place around the country.

Induna Muyundwalo said Sioma was developing with the infrastructure development projects and programmes and that the district would witness unprecedented facelift.

The traditional leader said the establishments of health posts in all the wards in the district would have a positive impact on the livelihood of the community by receiving better health care and services.

“I would like to thank Government through President Edgar Lungu for his tireless efforts to foster development in Western Province.

“I am very confident that Sioma will develop to greater heights for the benefit of the local community and the country at large. The Barotse Royal Establishment will continue to work with Government to bring about development,” Induna Muyundwalo said.

He said in the past, residents of Sioma had a challenge to access health services because of long distances between health posts.

Induna Muyundwalo urged the community to utilise the health facility to ensure that the current mortality rate was reduced.

Sioma District Commissioner Maurice Litula said the district had numerous tourism sites such as national parks which would benefit local people if fully harnessed. By MUKOSELA KASALWE in Sioma GOVERNMENT is determined to bring quality health services closer to citizens for easy access to drugs and general health care, says Health Minister, Dr Chitalu Chilufya.

Dr Chilufya said he was an envoy of President Edgar Lungu’s desire to see citizens receive quality health services and care.

He said this in Sioma when he commissioned Sankandi health post over the weekend and affirmed Government’s continued collaboration with cooperating partners to deliver development.

The minister said a hospital to be known as Nangweshi would soon be constructed in a central location in the district.

“I am a special envoy of President Edgar Lungu’s desire to bring quality health services closer to the community.

“A hospital to be known as Nangweshi will soon be constructed in a central location here in Sioma,” he said.

Dr Chilufya said three health staff were already on hand to help with the smooth running of Sankandi health post.

And Sioma Independent Member of Parliament Mbololwa Subulwa said the health facility would ease transport costs for the people of the community as some would travel as far as Senanga to seek medical attention.

Ms Subulwa expressed happiness that the area had benefitted seven health posts from the 650 health posts rolled out by the government.

And ZEEC director Joe Mwitumwa pledged to hand over a house for medical staff once all the necessities were finalised.

Mr Mwitumwa pledged to continue working with the government in its continued effort to bring health services to the people.
