Work closely with the community, health workers urged
By SIMON MUNTEMBA GOVERNMENT has urged health workers to work closely with the community if tangible results were to be achieved.
And the government said that it was impressed with the quality of health care service delivery to the community although more work needed to be done.
Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Health Services, Jabbin Mulwanda said, although, health facilities in Zambia have scored a number of successes in delivering quality health services, there was still room to do better. According to a statement issued by mnistry's communica
wanda said the government was happy with the quality of health care service delivery to the community.
Dr Mulwanda said this in Livingstone yesterday, after checking on health service delivery at Livingstone Central Hospital, Linda and Mosi-O-Tunya clinics.
Dr Mulwanda was in Southern province to check on the delivery of health services. He said most areas that required improvement were within the capacity of local health workers and did not need the Permanent Secretary to move in. He however, urged health workers to make a difference by working closely with the community. “Make a difference by working closely with the community and the ministry will give them necessary support,” Dr Mulwanda urged the health workers.
Meanwhile, Dr Mulwanda said HIV prevention campaigns were going on smoothly especially the Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC).
He said the VMMC campaigns comes at a time when the country has adopted the universal routine HIV testing and as part of male circumcision programme, clients are tested and immediately linked to care if they test HIV positive.
Dr Mulwanda said he had seen some innovative ways of doing things citing where people that tested positive where immediately linked to care.
