…the claims are unfounded and childish

-

By SIMON MUNTEMBA GOVERNMENT has rubbished claims by Roan Member of Parliament, Chishimba Kambwili that he was currently undergoing financial stress at the hands of the Patriotic Front administration describing it as “unfounded and childish.”

Chief government spokesperson, Mulenga Kampamba said claims by Mr. Kambwili who boasted some few weeks ago that he had enough money such that he can even fly to the UK just to drink tea and come back were “unfounded and childish.”

Mr Kambwili claimed that the PF administration has financially squeezed him, adding that he was going through serious cash flow problems.

He said that he was failing to raise money to fund the shipment of the donated items and accused the government of withdrawing contracts and holding up his payments to his company called Mwamona Engineering Services.

Mr Kambwili also said that he has failed to bring in a consignment of hospital equipment sourced from the United Kingdom for a local clinic in Mpatamatu, Luanshya, because he cannot pay freight charges accusing the PF government of financially squeezing him because they considered him to be a po- litical rival.

But Ms. Kampamba told the Daily Nation yesterday that Government had nothing to do with Mr. Kambwili’s wealth and businesses.

She advised Mr. Kambwili to account for his monies and reduce on travelling to the UK for tea to avoid undergoing financial stress.

“Those claims are not true. How does the government come in? What has happened to his recent claims that he has money to an extent of going to the UK in the morning just to have tea and come back in the afternoon? What has happened to his money he boasted of having some few weeks ago?

“Hon. Kambwili boasted that the kind of money that he makes from the mine, he can go to have tea in the UK to have tea. His claims are unfounded and childish.

“By and large, when somebody claims that he can go to UK to have tea and come back, then it means he is mishandling his finances,” Ms Kampamba said.

The Minister added, “As government, we have nothing to do with his money. We are not interested in Hon. Kambwili’s wealth. He should just account for his money and maybe he should reduce on travelling to the UK for tea to save his wealth.”
