Luanshya has Chamber of Commerce and Industry
By SIMON MUNTEMBA THE formation of the District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) in Luanshya will play a vital role in transforming the economy of the mining town, says Mayor Nathan Chanda.
Mr. Chanda who welcomed the development expressed confidence that the newly formed chamber will play an important part in helping to improve the economy of the town.
"I am happy to be part of this momentous process and I am confident that it will play a vital role in transforming the economy of our town. It is my sincere hope that the newly formed District Chamber of Commerce and Industry will flourish in all its activities.
“As City father, I am happy to witness the birth of our own Chamber of Commerce and Industry which will help in speeding up sustainable social economic development,” Mr. Chanda said.
The Mayor further appealed to the private sector in Luanshya to take advantage of the formation of the district chamber of commerce and industry and explore the opportunities which will unfold with the coming of the business body.
According to a statement issued by the Council Municipal Council public relations manager, Gideon Thole, the Mayor assured the business community of support from the local authority towards facilitating and sustaining the formation of the district chamber of commerce and industry.
The Mayor said this in a speech read on his behalf by the deputy mayor Golden Mulenga, during the official opening of the ZACCI, Chamber Development Seminar held in the Council Chamber at the Civic Centre on yesterday in Luanshya.
Mr Chanda also commended ZACCI for responding to the request by Luanshya Municipal Council to facilitate the formation of the district chamber of commerce and industry.
“I also wish to thank all the companies for coming and the council management for taking up the initiative to see to it that the District Chamber of Commerce was formed,” he said.
