SUPPORT MUTATI, COSMO TELLS PF MEMBERS
PATRIOTIC Front members should continue to support Finance Minister Felix Mutati in his continued efforts to steer the economy and desist from calling for resignation from the MMD, says National Revolution Party president Cosmo Mumba.
Dr Mumba advised PF members to desist from politics of finger pointing but give Mr Mutati all the support in helping President Edgar Lungu and the government to revive the economic fortunes of the country.
He said calls for the resignation of Mr Mutati, who is MMD leader, were unnecessary and that the Zambian Constitution did not stop President Lungu from appointing him to the position.
In an interview with Daily Nation in Lusaka yesterday, Dr Mumba said Mr Mutati should not be distracted but left to concentrate on the budget presentation, implementation and economic development of Zambia.
‘‘I would like to take this opportunity to advise some PF members to stop politics of finger pointing and allow Mr Mutati help the ruling party and President Lungu to steer the economy in the right direction.
‘‘Mr Mutati should be allowed to focus on the budget presentation, implementation and the economic development of the country,’’ he said.
And Dr Mumba took a swipe at social media doomsayers who claimed he was unwell and still admitted at the University Teaching Hospital.
He said he was discharged from hospital four days ago and that he was fit and thanked the hospital management for their work and care.
Dr Mumba said that it was unfortunate that some people would celebrate the illness of others.
He urged the public not to take everything that the social media writes as the gospel truth.
