CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM WELCOME, SAYS MUSOMA
By BENNIE MUNDANDO LET us offer constructive criticism to those in power to help them work other than attacking them unnecessarily because that has no bearing on national development, ZRP president Wright Musoma has said.
Mr. Musoma said there was need for Zambian politicians to foster a paradigm shift from the business-as-usual approach to politics of thinking opposition political parties’ duty was to oppose everything those in power were doing.
Mr. Musoma said those in opposition should start seeing themselves as partners in development who could change the course of national development.
He said most of the current crop of opposition politicians did not inspire Zambians as it was preoccupied with punching holes in everything those in power were doing.
“They think that is the only way they could make themselves relevant to national affairs,” he said
Mr. Musoma said his party had embarked on a journey towards what he termed as clean politics based on competing ideas, finding solutions to national challenges, and holding those in power responsible for any of their actions.
Mr. Musoma warned the PF that he would continue to offer checks and balances without shying away from pointing out the wrongs they may be involved in.
But, he said, he would also be quick to commend them where they succeeded because he was not hypocritical and wanted the best for Zambians.
“Is it true that whatever Governmnet is doing is wrong? No it is not true .Unfortunately, we have a situation in Zambia where opposition political parties believe that for them to be relevant to the political landscape, they have to criticise Governmnet for everything it does, right or wrong.
Mr. Musoma said he did not intend to sell his party to any other political party because he believed ZRP was the true alternative Government to PF.
“We supported the PF in the previous election and we may still support them this coming election but that does not mean we have sold our party to them because we are an alternative Government. I don’t personally see any other political party forming Government other than us,” said Mr Musoma
