Hip-hop upstart pays tribute to departed artistes
By TERENCE MISELO AMBIA’S new hip hop sensation Pumulo Prince Mwangala aka Y-Star Greater has paid special tribute to musicians that have contributed greatly to the development of music in the country including departed stars Joe Chibangu and Brian ‘P-Jay’ Chengwa.
This is in the artistes’ new single dubbed ‘Nitasha’ a song he has specifically released to give credit to the artistes that have especially played a major role in building the industry and particularly his career.
Y-Star who ventured into music in 2012 during his school days, believes it is important to give credit to people while they are alive. The singer may not be very popular but his music dates back from the time he won the ‘Tipayane Talent Show’ as the best hip hop star. With that, he developed interest in composing hip hop music with great support and inspiration from the likes; JK, Joe Chibangu, MC Wabwino, Slap Dee, Alpha Romeo and many others.
For this reason, Y-Star says he has a duty to pay tribute to the many artistes that have worked hard for the industry.
“Nitasha is giving credit to people who helped me in the industry, it is a special song for Club DJs, pioneers of modern music and particularly those who have gone before us. These are Crystal Shawn, P-Jay, Joe Chibangu and many others,” says Y-Star.
The lad is now looking forward to releasing his debut hip hop album which he says will have a unique collection and approach.
