ZICTA to trace Mutati hackers
HACKERS have created a fake online platform purportedly coming from the Minister of Finance, Mr Felix Mutati on which various government announcements are being peddled, says the ministry’s head of media and public relations Chileshe Kandeta.
Mr Kandeta said the ministry would soon initiate a search through the Zambia Information Communication and Technology Authority (ZICTA) and SMART Zambia to trace the originator of the posting and the creator of the fake Facebook account for Mr Mutati.
He said the minister did not have a private online platform on which he announces or discusses Government business.
In a statement issued yesterday, Mr Kandeta described the false online platform as a fraud.
Mr Kandeta urged members of the general public not to be wooed by fraudsters and that online postings and announcements on official Government business by Mr Mutati were originated on the official Ministry of Finance site.
“The Ministry of Finance will initiate a search through ZICTA and SMART Zambia to trace the originator of the posting and the creator of the fake Facebook account for the Minister,” Mr Kandeta said.
According to a Facebook posting bearing the names of the Finance minister and his picture he is allegedly announcing auction of impounded vehicles and electronics by the Zambia Revenue Authority customs department.
