EXPLAIN MUSHILI WATER BLUES – MP

- By SIABANA KELVIN

THE shortage of water has persisted in Mushili Township in Ndola where residents have gone without the resource in the last two weeks.

This situation has angered Bwana Mkubwa Constituency law maker Dr Jonas Chanda who is unhappy with Kafubu Water & Sewerage Company (KWSC).

Dr Chanda said he was disappointed with Kafubu Water & Sewerage Company’s failure to fully explain the cause of the problem to the residents.

Dr Chanda said the situation was unacceptable and urged the company to explain the prolonged water shortages. He demanded that water supply should restored urgently.

The irate law maker said there was need for the water utility company to do a debt write-off to, cancel water bills incurred during times of severe water blues because the residents could not pay for a service that was not offered.

“It is very sad that instead of the residents in Mushili and Bonano and other affected areas rejoicing to celebrate Zambia’s 53 years of political Independence, they are instead subjected to inhuman suffering,” Dr Chanda said. He said with the continued water shortages in the affected areas, chances of cholera breaking out were high in Bwana Mkubwa Constituency and other places.

“In the meantime, while they sort out this severe water shortage, I request Kafubu Water and Sewerage Company to provide affected residents with water bowsers so that the residents can have access to clean water for their domestic use.

But efforts to get a comment from the Water utility company’s Public Relations department proved difficult during press time.
