South PF happy with progress
GOVERNMENT’s integrated multi-sectoral development approach in the implementation of national programmes will enhance and speed up the decentralisation process at local level.
Southern Province Patriotic Front information and publicity secretary Trymore Mwenda commended Government for taking up an integrated multi-sectoral approach to development in the implementation of national programmes.
He said this approach would enhance and speed up the decentralisation process at local level, which was expected to be captured in the provincial Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Mr Mwenda said the framework which was in line with President Lungu’s vision of creating synergies and use of multi-sectoral development approach in the implementation of local developmental projects, would transform Southern Province and the entire country.
In a statement availed to the Daily Nation yesterday, Mr Mwenda said it was pleasing to note that all the 10 provinces would know their levels of GDP contribution and would aspire to exploit their full potential.
“This framework which is in line with President Lungu’s vision of creating synergies and use of multi-sectoral development approach in the implementation of local developmental projects, will transform Southern Province and the entire country.
“It is pleasing to note that all the ten provinces will now know their levels of GDP contribution and thus will need to exploit their full potential,” he said.
Mr Mwenda said for this to be a reality, Southern Province would be required to exploit its full potential and contribute to economic growth and development on the basis of its resource endowment.
He said the PF in the region would support the Government in ensuring that the province was on course to attain this goal.
Mr Mwenda urged people of Southern Province to work hard and rise to the challenge and increase the GDP rating of the area.
He expressed hope that Southern Province would realise its under-lying potential and exploit areas that could transform the region and reduce poverty among rural communities.
Mr Mwenda said he was delighted that under the approach, the focus was on high level development outcomes through all Government ministries, provinces and spending agencies, private sector, cooperating partners and other stakeholders to achieve the Seventh National Development Plan objectives.
