KAMBWILI EXPOSED

… REPORTED TO POLICE OVER ALLEGED FRAUD

- By IRVIN MUYUMBWA

ROAN Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili has been reported to police for alleged fraudulent registration of a company using ghost names to obtain government contracts.

“Mr Kambwili is one of those hypocrites pretending to be fighting corruption so that Zambians can like him and yet he is highly compromised himself. He keeps boasting that he is as clean as Dr. KK’s handkerchief because most of the property fraudulently ac-

quired are not in his name,” says politician, Chilufya Tayali.

Lusaka Province Police Commissioner Nelson Phiri confirmed receiving the report from Mr Tayali.

Mr Tayali, who is Economic and Equity Party President (EPP) has exposed an alleged matrix of Mr. Kambwili’s business dealings that involves fraudulent registration of a company, Mwamona Engineering and Technical Services Limited using fake names, later used to obtain government contracts.

He also said President Lungu had been given this information of Mr Kambwili’s alleged illegal activities but was too humane to act on it unlike the late Michael Sata who wasted no time sorting the law maker out when he put his cattle off the Luanshya Golf Course. “I warned them even during the time of campaigns. They gave him a chopper and he turned it into a spacio, jumping from place to place. People were saying ‘ba Kambwili kuno bachilamo (Kambwili is over doing it)’,” he said.

According to Mr Tayali, to avoid any trace of his name in any corrupt deals thereby avoiding prosecution, Mr Kambwili allegedly used the names of Mwamba Chishimba as indicated on the PACRA certificate, but signed for government contracts with his normal signature.

Mr. Kambwili, who was recently under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) following his dismissal as a cabinet minister on account of engaging in corruption activities while serving as a senior government official, is K50 million Kwacha richer, according to Mr Tayali. Mr Tayali yesterday told a press briefing that his conclusive investigations revealed that Mr Kambwili registered Mwamona Engineering and Technical Services Limited using the name of Mwamba Chishimba of unknown nationality but using NRC number 239643/68/1 which belongs to his sister Sampa Kambwili. He said the second person whose details are registered belong to his wife Chansa Carol Chishimba of Zambian origin bearing NRC number 235023/66/1 where the two with Mwamba Chishimba who is non-existent own 1,000 shares each. “He registered using fraud because he is scared of what he is doing using this company and wants to run away from the responsibility of the corruption he does through this company and its not that I am speculating. He has been getting a lot of contracts even from government using a fraud name of Mwamba Chishimba and he thinks he is very clever,” said Mr Tayali.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tayali yesterday formally reported Mr. Kambwili to Lusaka Central Police on allegations of fraud following the registration of Mwamona Engineering And Techinical Services Limited using the name of a person who does not exist.

He said Mr. Kambwili should therefore, not be entrusted with leadership following the revelation of his alleged fraudulent activities to acquire the wealth he boasts about. “Chishimba Kambwili is not the kind of person that people are thinking he is. I’m in touch with people who give me information. I am bringing out the issues especially the monies that has been going through this company for which Kambwili has been signing the cheques,” Mr Tayali said.

Mr Tayali said he had a catalogue of activities involving Mr Kambwili such as when former president, Michael Sata, threatened to send officers to shoot his cattle if he did not remove them from the Golf Course where he had been keeping them.

He claimed that Mr Kambwili may be able to hoodwink some people but not those who knew his history where he had nothing and now had more than K50 million. But efforts to get Kambwili over the allegations raised by the EEP leader failed as his mobile phone went unanswered and messages not replied to.
