Chinese to the rescue of traders

THE Chinese community on the Copperbelt Province have donated K77, 450.00 to marketeers and traders at Ndola’s Kapalala Market who lost goods after a fire destroyed the facility recently.

The cash was handed over to 100 marketeers, who shared @ 66 each.

@abushi Member of Parliament Qowman Lusambo said he was exited at the gesture by the Chinese business community.

Speaking in an interview after witnessing the handover Mr. Lusambo, who is also provincial Minister, said the good gesture would continue until the 1000 marketeers that lost goods received @ 66 each.

He said the gesture was just to cushion individual traders at the market.

Addressing the affected marketeers the @abushi parliament­arian said his office was going to do everything possible to see to it that lives of the traders were improved.

Mr. Lusambo assured the marketeers that they would receive help to grow their businesses.

"What is being witnessed networking.

One hundred marketeers had since received mone amounting to @ 66 each and we are not stopping just at this group. Even next week we are awarding another group until the total of 1000 marketeers are captured.

“The marketeers have exercised patience and I can assure you that they are happy to see me. I know how I interact with them. We will ensure that they get back on their feet," he said.

One hundred traders of the destroyed Main Masala[s @apalala Market in Ndola have been given @ 66 each while Π6 affected have been given a 25kg bag of mealie meal each to sustain them.

Meanwhile a Chinese community representa­tive Mei Mei director Youbao Gao said the group decided to help the traders revive their businesses.
