NAPSA set focus on League’s top 4

-

By GRACE CHAILE LESOETSA NAPSA Stars have set their sights on the Super League's top-four after failing to win the 2017 Barclays Cup title on Saturday.

Napsa assistant coach Harry Milanzi said the team’s primary goal now was to finish in the top four.

Speaking in an interview after Napsa lost 2-1 to Zanaco in the Barclays Cup final played at National Heroes stadium, Milanzi said the team had to fight harder to achieve the only remaining objective of a top four finish.

“We now have to achieve the target of a top finish this season and qualify for Continental competition. I still believe we are in the race for the Super league title and we will not give up,” he said.

Napsa are seventh on the log with 50 points, 10 points behind leaders Zanaco and five points behind fourth placed Nkana.

Milanzi described the failure to win Barclays Cup as painful, saying his side had several chances and could have own the match in regulation time.

“We had so many chances in regulation time and first 15 minutes of extra time. The boys played well and if they display the same football in the remaining six league matches plus scoring, then we can achieve the target,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zanaco coach Mumamba Numba said the Barclays title had motivated the team to work harder to defend the Super League.

“This is a Cup that has eluded us since its inception in 2007, and today it is done. We will now work harder to defend the League title,” Numba said.
