KK counsels graduates

-

BY CHITE MTONGA CAVENDISH University chancellor and first republican president Dr Kenneth Kaunda has advised graduates to contribute to national development and advocate for national unity.

Speaking at Cavendish University’s 10th graduation ceremony Dr Kaunda said that graduates should use their education to work towards uniting the country and contribute to national development.

He said that the theme for the year’s graduation ceremony “delivery of transformative, market relevant education” was in line with the 7th national development plan and vision 2020 adding that this should motivate the graduates to work towards assisting government in achieving the country’s goals.

Dr Kaunda said that the graduates have acquired skills and competencies from the university which they should use to develop their country.

He said that failure would always be there but graduates should not look at it as an enemy but a lesson.

“Do not look at failure as an enemy, it should make you work even harder so that you can help others to get a good education just like you have acquired yourselves,” he said.

And Cavendish University vice chancellor Prof Mutale Musonda said that 512 students had this year graduated from the University.

Prof Musonda said that in line with the national aspirations to develop high skilled human resource all the graduates were adequately prepared.

He said that the graduates were pillars that the country could build a strong economic future on.

Prof Musonda said that the university would continue to work with the public sector and government to map out skill shortages, develop courses and provide internship and work placement opportunities for students who are eager to have a positive impact on the growth of the nation.

He said that the university offers courses which focus on real world learning experiences that allow our graduates to be adaptable, enterprising and ready for work.
