Chongwe road works on track
By JOHN KOMBE CHONGWE residents have been assured that road maintenance works on course in the area. Chongwe Town Clerk, Mr. Levis Mumba told the Daily Nation that the road works were going on as planned.
"As I speak, we are on site and our grader is in Meanwood Bonaventure area where we have started from. We are doing about 26.9Km of road works in the area apart from the works that will be done by the Road Development Agency (RDA)," he revealed.
Mr Mumba promised not to shy away from giving updates when called upon.
The Mayor, Mr. Geoffrey Chumbwe also told the Daily Nation in an interview that, the local authority was equal to the task and would deliver as planned.
He revealed that the district was poised for massive infrastructure development under the Patriotic Front government.
"This is a working government and the President has assured us of government support and I cannot doubt that assurance.
"We will strive to bring development to Chongwe and the works will speak louder than our words. We are a working government which does not believe in personal praise, that is a fool's game" he bragged.
"There are two major problems in this district, water and roads. We are Working on these areas as a priority because they are critical to other developments that may follow." he said.
