Clear yourself on fraud allegations, Kambwili challenged

LET Chishimba Kambwili who has been too vocal and claims to be as clean as Dr Kenneth Kaunda’s white handkerchief exonerate himself on the alleged fraudulent registration of a company using ghost names to obtain government contracts, the New Congress Party (NCP) has demanded.

And the NCP leader, Peter Chanda has challenged the security wings to investigate and establish how Mr Kambwili registered Mwamona Engineering and Technical Services using the name of Mwamba Chishimba of unknown NRC number 239643/68/1.

He was reacting to the alleged fraudulent activities of Mr Kambwili raised by Economic and Equity Party (EEP) president Chilufya Tayali.

Mr Tayali exposed an alleged matrix of Mr Kambwili’s business dealings that involved fraudulent registration of Mwamona Engineering and Technical Services using fake names, and later obtained governments contracts.

Mr Kambwili who is Roan Member of Parliament is alleged to have registered the company using the name of Mwamba Chishimba with a NRC number 239643/68/1 which belongs to another person.

But Pastor Chanda said there was need for Mr Kambwili who claims to be championing corruption to clear himself on these serious fraud allegations.

In an interview with the Daily Nation yesterday, Pastor Chanda said Mr Kambwili should be investigated because the law was very clear that someone is innocent until proven guilty.

He appealed to all the investigative wings to take seriously allegations raised against Mr Kambwili by Mr Tayali and do the investigations so that the nation get informed.

“We are challenging Mr Kambwili who has been too vocal and claiming to be championing corruption to clear himself on these serious fraud allegations raised against him by our brother comrade Tayali.

“Equally, we also challenge the Zambia Police frauds department, Drug Enforcement Commission and other security wings to investigate the matter to establish how Mr Kambwili registered Mwamona Engineering and Technical Services using fake names to get government contracts,” Pastor Chanda said.

He charged that it was now evident that the Roan law maker was too corrupt, to start championing corruption.

“So based on these serious fraudulent activities revealed by the EEP President, Mr Kambwili is a wrong character to champion corruption. He is too corrupt to become our saint to champion corruption and I repeat; let him clear himself on these allegations,” Pastor Chanda said.

He added that the investigative wings should get to the bottom of the issue to avoid misleading the nation.
