Senior Chief Chiwala sued over succession

-

CHAIRPERSON of the Lamba Lima royal establishment (LLRE) senior Chief Chiwala of Msaiti district has been sued by some royal family members related to deceased Chief Ndubeni of Mpongwe over succession.

The plaintiffs in the matter are accusing the defendant of imposing his preferred candidate as new chief Ndubeni without following the due process of the Lima customs in selecting new chief.

The hearing has since started in the Kitwe High Court under the civil jurisdiction.

An affidavit signed by the plaintiffs; Rosaria Chanda, Mary Banda Tani Ngowani and Michael Chanda, asked the court for an exparte summons for an interim order of injunction against the defendant, senior chief Chiwala whose names are Majaliwa Muwaya.

The matter is expected to come up for hearing on November 10 of 2017.

According to the affidavit, senior chief Ndubeni (Tito Chisonga) of the Lima speaking people of Mpongwe district died on the 2nd September, 2015.

The affidavit says that as chairperson of the LLRE senior Chief Chiwala was merely supposed to chair meetings concerning customary matters and or disputes within Copperbelt.

The affidavit further reads that from the time senior Chief Ndubeni died on Friday Kamba was appointed as interim chief.

And senior Chiwala claimed he was not aware of any vote that took place on June 11, where the plaintiff was chosen as a successor of late chief by Ngalamwe and queen mother.
