OF PRESIDENT MWANAWASA CORRUPTION CRUSADE

-

Dear Editor

THE resignation of Judge Peter Smith the London Judge who persecuted Dr. Chiluba vindicates many Zambians who did not agree with the decision of the Task Force on Corruption which took the case to London before disposing the same here in Zambia.

It is indeed criminal that President Chiluba was taken to London to appear before a Judge who was well known to have been unstable. Those responsible for this dastardly act must be brought to account. They knew that Judge Smith has a chequered record on the bench with very eccentric judgments that were butts of jokes and derision among other members of the bench. This act was not only demeaning of our President but was an act of betrayal for the country which was brought into international disrepute by a finding which went contrary to the facts on the ground. It was a fact that Dr. Chiluba had his own money in the Zamtrop account, which fact was confirmed by various audit accounts and statements from many witnesses who gave evidence. There is no doubt that those who are making allegations of corruption against President Lungu are also planning the same fate that met Dr. Chiluba and President Banda, namely to be paraded before courts of law for non-existent offences. This curse should be broken and those responsible must be shown for what they were as mercenaries who served the interests of foreign masters. Those foreign coutries that helped to persecute Dr. Chiluba must also be held to account for allowing a process that was less that transparent. Conrad Ndaba
