BARRICK LUMWANA REWARDS 117 WORKERS
BARRICK Lumwana Mine launched long service awards for all employees who clock 10 years of continuous service with the company.
The gesture shown by management is in recognition of the values of the employees’ contribution to the welfare of the company.
Speaking at the first-ever awards ceremony, company General Manager Sam Ash said it was very impressive to see the employees that started the successful mine still with the mine. The function was specifically organised to recognise 117 junior staff who had worked over 10 years.
“I am happy that even employees who have served the company for over 10 years came in at the time when the mine was just clearing the area and now it has developed.
“We now have a football team here at Lumwana which is playing in the Zambian Super League so it’s more than just mining that we have achieved together but also contributing to the socio-economic development of the country, Mr. Ash said.
He said there was a lot that the Company had done and would continue doing for the sustainability of the community.
He disclosed that Barrick Lumwana mine was very proud of the contributions made by employees and remained grateful for their commitment and dedication to work. He congratulated all the 117 recognised employees and reaffirmed the company’s commitment in motivating, recognising and rewarding hard-working employees.
And Barrick Lumwana Mine Human Resources Manager, Ng’andwe Chibesa thanked the employees, their spouses and families for being consistent and supportive.
“We are awarding you today both in-kind and financially as recognition for your continuous long service with this company,” said Chibesa.
And speaking on behalf of the recipients, Rutherford Chamato, thanked management for its kind culture of rewarding employees while they were still alive.
