HH WRONG ON MARKETS - KAMBA

-

By OSCAR MALIPENGA HAKAINDE Hichilema is lying that markets and bus stations are being run by Patriotic Front (PF) cadres to the contrary the councils are in charge, Patriotic Front (PF) youth chairman Kennedy Kamba has clarified.

Appearing on Radio Phoenix programme “let the people talk” last week, Mr Hichilema said UPND members were not allowed to trade in markets because PF cadres who were in charge had chased them.

But in an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr Kamba challenged Mr Hichilema to go to any market claiming they were being run by PF and check if he would ever find receipts issued by PF officials with PF logo. Let him not lie that markets are being run by cadres, it is not true and this is why we are saying he does not have people in Lusaka because if he can say that all the traders in the markets are PF so what?

“So what, because they are happy with the policies of the PF and they are happy with the way President Edgar Lungu’s government is delivering in terms of development and this is why Hakainde Hichilema is saying all the markets in Lusaka are PF, maybe they are PF because all the traders are happy with the government and it is good that he is confessing himself that he unpopular,” Mr Kamba said.

Meanwhile, Mr Kamba explained that PF would never allow people who were insulting the President in the markets and that they (PF) had made that clear.

“If they know that they are traders and their job is to sell tomatoes at Soweto market let them concentrate on the business but as leadership of Lusaka we are not going to allow UPND cadres using the markets while denouncing the government we are not going to allow that.

“Markets are being run by the councils themselves. If you go to intercity today it is the most performing in terms of revenue collection.

“What ours youths are doing in the markets is to be creative, they are creating employment to themselves because the council has failed to employee loaders and off loaders so our boys when trucks come during the night they off load goods those are the services which they are giving to the traders. “How can you say they are running the markets,” he said.
