Exodus unleashes “Kambongolo punch”

THE Exodus Boxing Promotions has formulated a ‘Kambongolo punch” ahead of their internatio­nal tournament set for this Saturday at Government Complex in Lusaka.

And Porps Express have donated K150, 000 towards the staging of the event.

At a press briefing held yesterday at Porps Express in Matero, promotions manager Anthony Mwamba declared all boxers ready for the tournament.

Mwamba said the boxers were mentally and physically ready to take on their opponents on the bill which includes several Malawians.

He doubted his boxers’ opponents will survive the ‘Kambongolo punch.”

“This time, the boxers will use a Cuban style of fighting which comes with a Kambongolo punch. I have confidence our boxers will carry the day on November 18,” he said.

And Exodus Stables chairperso­n Jack Mbewe said preparatio­ns for the staging of the event was on course.

Mbewe announced that they have raised K335, 000 from the K431, 000 set budget.

“We are geared to stage the tournament scheduled for this Saturday. Everything is running smoothly and calling upon the business community to assist the stable raise the K96, 000 deficit,” Mbewe said.

He commended Porps Express for coming on board as the main sponsors of the tournament.

Porps Express manager Chris Kabuswe said they were honoured to support a boxing stable from its vicinity.

“We were ignited by the fact that Exodus is located in Matero and their immense contributi­on to the growth of boxing in Zambia. Porps is happy to donate K150, 000 toward the hosting of the event,” Kabuswe said.

Other sponsors of the event include Wonderful Ceilings, Gleco Oil Company, Heroes Lodge, Magodi Lodge, Kobs and Gladiator Fitness.

Meanwhile, Enos “Butcher man” Temfuma has promised to knock-out Malawian Lano Lembani in the World Boxing Federation cruisier weight eliminatio­n fight.

“Lembani will not last three rounds on Saturday. I am ready and looking forward to the fight,” he said.

In non-title fights, Malawian cruiserwei­ght Powder Limbani faces Sherif Kasongo, Simon Ngoma will square it off against Joseph Chewe of Mitanda Boxing Stable in the light weight category, lightweigh­t Bernard Mwango will host Philemon Hara of Evergreen Stable.

Others are Esaya Chilufya to face Mwansa Kabinga of Mitanda Stables in the welterweig­ht category while Raphael Kasoma faces off Joshua Chifwembe of Mitanda and Alli Kabeya will fight Brighton Ncheni of Malawi in a middleweig­ht contest..
