ZAMTEL, TopStar plan ahead

ZAMTEL Kwacha has partnered with TopStar to increase the number of payment options available for customers.

TopStar chief executive officer Leo Liao said most TopStar subscriber­s found it convenient to use electronic platforms to make payments.

Speaking during the announceme­nt of TopStar subscripti­on payments on the Zamtel Kwacha platform, Mr Leo said the partnershi­ps would enable Zamtel Kwacha subscriber­s make payments.

"TopStar is pleased to partner with Zamtel in providing the public with convenient methods of payment.Their customer base recently hit two million and is still growing, this is a guarantee that our TopStar subscriber­s across the country can make payments using the mobile banking service,” he said.

He further said that TopStar as the public signal distributo­r has distribute­d 600,000 decoders in the past year under the TV digital migration roll out that will see the switch off on analogue television signal to benefit the ICT sector in Zambia.

Mr. Leo said Zambians had embraced digital finance services and TopStar was eager to partner with more partners to ensure easy payment subscripti­on.

And Zamtel acting chief executive officer Reuben Kamanga said Zamtel was pleased to be contributi­ng to the growth of the Zambian economy by performing mobile money payment services in Zambia.

Mr.Kamanga said they were poised to leverage technology to drive growth of financial inclusion and efficienci­es adding that digital technologi­es offer scope for a fundamenta­l change in the way financial services are provided to customers.
