KASEMPA HAMMER MILLS PROJECT ON TRACK

THE installati­on of the 23 solar hammer mills in Kasempa which is expected to be completed soon is progressin­g well.

Kasempa Cooperativ­es Inspector Moses Lwaisha said all the 23 plants had so far been constructe­d from slab to housing while out this 21 have had the machinery installed already.

He disclosed that the contractor was expected to hand over the plants to the Zambia Cooperativ­e Federation (ZCF) by the end of November this year.

‘’I can confirm that we are making head ways in terms of the installati­on of the presidenti­al solar hammer mills in the district, Mr Lwaisha said.

He further disclosed that 22 primary cooperativ­es had benefitted from the facilities and the remaining one would be given to the mother body of the district cooperativ­e union.

Mr Lwaisha called on the beneficiar­ies of the presidenti­al solar hammer mill plants to put the facility to good use and ensure that they grow their business.

He also advised the cooperativ­e movement in the district to be innovative and embrace transparen­cy and avoid the dependency syndrome.

Meanwhile, Kasempa district Union chairperso­n Oswell Mwempe has thanked senior chief Kasempa for allocating land to the cooperativ­e movement.

And North Western Province permanent secretary Ephraim Mateyo said the milling plants would alleviate poverty among small-scale farmers and improve the livelihood of the people in the district.

He noted that once in operation, the facilities would facilitate the reduction of mealie-meal prices in the country.
