KASEMPA HAMMER MILLS PROJECT ON TRACK
THE installation of the 23 solar hammer mills in Kasempa which is expected to be completed soon is progressing well.
Kasempa Cooperatives Inspector Moses Lwaisha said all the 23 plants had so far been constructed from slab to housing while out this 21 have had the machinery installed already.
He disclosed that the contractor was expected to hand over the plants to the Zambia Cooperative Federation (ZCF) by the end of November this year.
‘’I can confirm that we are making head ways in terms of the installation of the presidential solar hammer mills in the district, Mr Lwaisha said.
He further disclosed that 22 primary cooperatives had benefitted from the facilities and the remaining one would be given to the mother body of the district cooperative union.
Mr Lwaisha called on the beneficiaries of the presidential solar hammer mill plants to put the facility to good use and ensure that they grow their business.
He also advised the cooperative movement in the district to be innovative and embrace transparency and avoid the dependency syndrome.
Meanwhile, Kasempa district Union chairperson Oswell Mwempe has thanked senior chief Kasempa for allocating land to the cooperative movement.
And North Western Province permanent secretary Ephraim Mateyo said the milling plants would alleviate poverty among small-scale farmers and improve the livelihood of the people in the district.
He noted that once in operation, the facilities would facilitate the reduction of mealie-meal prices in the country.
