FDD sued for K34, 000 in vehicle hire fees
A LUSAKA firm, Jochain Enterprise Limited has sued FDD for failing to pay K34, 000 fees for hiring its vehicle during the 2016 election
campaigns.
According to a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court, FDD secretary-general Nathan Mulonga, on or about May 5, 2016, Jochain Enterprise Limited entered into a contract with Mr Mulonga for hire of its motor vehicle a Toyota Prado, registration number BAA 6391 for three months.
“On 5th May 2016, we engaged in a contract with Mr Nathan Mulonga the secretary-general of FDD for the hire of a motor vehicle Toyota Prado, registration number BAA 6391 for a period of three months for use during election campaigns,” the claim states
FDD made a down payment of K2, 000 and a further payment of K5, 000 leaving a balance of K34, 000.
Jochain Enterprise Limited claimed that FDD had failed, neglected or refused to settle the money despite numerous requests to pay the balance.
The company states that as a result of FDD’s breach of contract, in paying the balance, it has suffered loss.
“FDD has refused, neglected or denied to pay the outstanding balance. Due to the breach of contract, our company has suffered loss and damage to that effect and thus seeks the court’s indulgence,” it has submitted.
