TOP FOUR RANKING POSSIBLE FOR POWER, SAYS COACH

-

By MICHAEL MIYOBA POWER Dynamos coach Danny Kabwe says his team can still clinch a top-four ranking on the MTN/FAZ Super division table despite having struggled in the recent weeks.

Power has struggled in the super division collecting only three points from a possible 18 points from the last six league fixtures.

The 2011 Zambian league champions suffered a 1-nil home defeat to defending Champions Zanaco last Saturday.

However speaking in a postmatch interview after the shocking 1-0 defeat at Arthur Davis Stadium, Kabwe said that his team had what it takes to clinch the top four spot.

Kabwe, who last weekend acknowledged that it would be impossible for his squad to win the title, attributed Power’s loss to missed chances by his players.

“It was a good game, we accounted for ourselves very well it’s just unfortunate that we missed a lot of chances which cost us a win. We just have to improve on our approach and fight hard to end the league in the top four,” Kabwe said.

Meanwhile Zanaco assistant coach Dabid Chilufya noted that his team could still defend the league despite commanding second position on the table with 64 points. Chilufya said the win over Power Dynamos was important as it brightened their chances of retaining the league title.

At Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka, Red Arrows Football Club head coach Honor Janza said his team’s focus was to end the league on a respectable position after their top four ambitions were ended by Nkana who walloped the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) sponsored side 2-1.

“Our target was to finish the league in the top four posi- tion but now it’s gone. Had we won our last two games against Nchanga Rangers and Nkana respectively we would still be in contention for a top four finish. We target to win all our remaining matches so that we can end the season on a respectable position and motivate ourselves for the coming season,” Janza said.

After their two consecutive defeats, Arrows are stuck on tenth position on the log with 48 points.
