- By JOHN KOMBE

BEACON of Hope Centre (BSC) says it intends to build a school for less privileged children in the community.

The centre said this will help in according quality education to more children.

BSC founding president Mr. Oscar Kaleya told the Daily Nation that, the organisation's motto was “one happy community".

He revealed that the traditional leadership had offered the centre an 8 acre piece of land towards the project.

“We will put up an early childhood education and a primary school with a 1X7 classroom block and a library.

Increased access to quality education can help to create a happy community. That is why we have embarked on this project," Mr. Kaleya said.

He said enrolment would not be restrictive.

"We will enrol children of all social status. However, our target is disadvantaged children who have challenges such as lack of food, books, uniforms and other school requisites.

“All this will be done with the help of our sponsors. We are supported by local business people and other well-wishers. We are also very open to any support that would help us increase our effort,” Mr. Kaleya said.

The organisation’s executive secretary, Mr. Rhotohwa Dube told the Daily Nation that, the construction of the school would start in the first quarter of 2018.

"We encourage people to learn to share what they have in order to help put a smile on another person's face .We have so far assisted more than 50 families with both material and moral support,” Mr. Dube said.
