Minister warns new RDA board
By KALOBWE BWALYA GOVERNMENT will not hesitate to revoke appointments for people failing to perform and meet people's expectations, Minister of Infrastructure and Housing Development Ronald Chitotela has warned.
Speaking during the induction ceremony for board of directors for the Road Development Agency (RDA) that will be chaired by Samael Mukupa in Lusaka on Monday, Mr Chitotela said he would not hesitate to revoke member's appointments, especially those who failed to perform.
Mr Chitotela cautioned board members to be effective and efficient in service delivery and not despair because the country’s development depended on a good road network.
Mr Chitotela said President Edgar Lungu and the PF government are in a hurry to develop the country and it was working at ensuring the country is land linked.
He implored the new board to settle-in quickly and effectively contribute to Government‘s realisation of the 7th National Development Plan.
He also said they needed to come up with solutions to liquidate the debt owed to contractors and consultants.
“I will not feel shy to revoke your appointments if you fail to perform. Currently the sector has huge debts owed to both contractors and consultants and the huge debt is negatively affecting our efforts to deliver critical projects across the country,” said Mr Chitotela.
