ZESCO powers North-Western institutions
By AARON CHIYANZO ZESCO has started powering various institutions across North Western Province at a cost of US$ 8.4 million following a successful connection of the province to the national grid, spokesperson Henry Kapata has announced.
Mr Kapata said that following a successful connection of North Western province to the national grid, the power utility company had continued to take power to the people in line with its new vision and mission.
He told the Daily Nation that this month, Zesco had started handing over site contractors to start extension of power to various sites across the province, under JICA sponsored projects costing US$ 4.6 milliion.
Mr Kapata pointed out that the targeted areas and institutions included the connection of Ikelenge district and Jimbe border, Mufumbwe district schools, clinics, courts, markets, businesses and houses along Mufumbwe- Manyinga Road.
He said that the project would also include connecting the line along the Mufumbwe - Kasempa road, all lines reaching a total of 40 kilometer of 33 Kilovolt lines.
Mr Kapata said that Watopa Area would be connected and all institutions from Mumbeji, Dipalata Mission and surrounding areas in Zambezi district and Chivombo area in Chavuma district.
“Following the successful connection of North Western to the national grid, we have continued to take power to the people in line with our new vision and mission. This month we are handing over site Contractors to start extension of power to various sites across the province Under JICA sponsored projects,” he said.
