NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOCUS

-

Dear Editor

There is far too much noise in the political arena to a point where the substance is being lost to verbiage and useless chatter.

For a start retired old politicians and those that have no possible value are being given a lot of space in the media making them appear relevant to the national cause and direction.

I have in mind Dotty Scott and his new band of friends Chishimba Kambwili and Musenge.

When has anybody heard Kambwili address issue of national policy and specifically microeconomic import?

He has no clue about these matters hence his very short stay at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he made a hash of things earning one of the speediest recalls ever.

He was also at sea and a complete non performer at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Service, where he will be remembered for his bullying tactics.

He deserves to be reminded that it is now the sound that he makes but rather the points that he scores which will land him at State House where he see himself destined. Unlike bogus doctorates, any candidate to state house must have some record of academic and indeed personal achievement. They must have an ability at organised thought and leadership ability, which sadly Kambwili does not have.

This broings me to the issue of Guy Scott who has jumped ship hoping to improve his fortune at the chance of taking another bite of leadership.

Like Mugabe Scott has obviously suffered from delusion of grandeur, thinking that he is not only relevant but indispensable to Zambian politics. Old age gives these delusions.

I have nothing to say about Musenge who has started off by admitting failure by being subordinate to Kambwili even before the party takes off the ground. For a man who lost a seat in a stronghold this marks his decline and eventual capitulation into the political woodwork.

My main worry is that we are spending too much time discussing these people who are inconsequential to a point where we are failing to discuss issues of positive development.

I suggest that the Patriotic Front should make it point to issue regular bulletins of the attaionments in the development sector where the Gpovernment delivering at a phenomenal pace. This is the only way that the negative and bitter sentiments from losers will be shut out.

There is too much good news to allow a handful of losers and malcontents to lead the national agenda.
