UTH records renal treatment success
By CHKUMBI KATEBE THE University Teaching Hospital has recorded great successes in providing lifesaving renal treatment to children suffering from kidney failure.
Senior Neurosurgeon Kachinga Sichizya said hospital staff were up to speed with the treatment of renal disease with the assistance of the medical procedure, renal dialysis.
He explained that while the hospital has advanced in numerous medical procedures, the Children’ Hospital has recorded huge success in the treatment of kidney problems in minors.
“Great successes have been recorded in all specialties and many lives have received restoration of health from the Children's hospital, through the Renal unit where dialysis is provided to serve those with kidney problems to the Cancer Diseases Hospital, glory be to God Almighty,” he said.
He explained that many children’s lives have been improved and in some cases restored to healthy lifestyle with expertise treatment by the medical staff and use of modern equipment for positive results.
Dr Kachinga said this was despite numerous challenges experienced by both staff and patients at the UTH which include among others inadequate staffing numbers, the UTH continues to strive to offer an excellent service to the public.
He has praised the health workers and supporting staff for their contribution to the success story at the institution, as well as the Ministry of Health and the cooperating partners for making it possible for life changing experiences delivered at UTH.
“The kitchen department headed by Esnai Munthali has to provide over 1000 meals EVERY DAY without fail.
“Zambia is blessed to have this hospital in place; well done the GRZ with the MOH and cooperating partners!” he said.
