CHIEF KAKOMA’S AREA CUT OFF

- By JACKSON MAMAPAYI

CHIEF Kakoma’s area in Mwinilunga district has been cut off from the rest of the district following the collapse of culverts after heavy rains.

District Commissioner Danny Bukali told the Daily Nation in an interview that the chiefdom which is in the valley area was cut off from Mwinilunga after that the culverts collapsed following heavy rains.

He said most of the culverts had not been worked on for some time and had become weak.

‘’Yes, the area is cut off because most of the bridges which are made of culverts have been washed away, Mr Bukali said.

He said for now the area could not be accessed by road adding that the situation was going to hinder the smooth delivery of various services to the people in that area.

‘’And especially that we are in the farming season, it will be very difficult to deliver the farming inputs,” he said.

He however assured the people in the area that government was doing everything possible to control the situation.

He said the district administration had mobilised resources to quickly work on the culverts so that service delivery can continue.

“So people should not panic but remain calm because resources have been mobilised to repair all the washed away bridges, he said.
