Jubilation as toddlers graduate to Grade one

-

By LINDA SOKO TEMBO THERE was jubilation among parents when 40 preschool children graduated during a colourful ceremony at Twatotela School in Emmasdale Lusaka.

The parents could not hold their joy to see their children who are between four and five years graduate from pre-grade to grade one.

Speaking during the 10th school graduation ceremony, guest of honour Matero inspector of police Sternslous Malunga said that the graduates were stepping into a new stage where they had become a little more independent.

Mr. Malunga reminded the toddlers to study hard and remember to invest in themselves with every test they took and every book they read.

“I ask you to take this chance to dedicate yourselves to making next year even better because you are moving from one stage to another that is from pre-grade to grade one they are expected to meet other challenges,” he said.

The inspector encouraged the toddlers to concentrate on their studies because they were the future leaders.

“I wish you the best because out of this we expect some of you to be doctors, lawyers and pilots amongst you they will be future leaders of this country,” he said.

He congratulated the director and the school management for the function and that it was a great encouragement to the community because it made the pupils busy.

The children were able to gain a lot of knowledge from the school work which could be applied in society and eventually the government, he added.

In an interview with one of the parents Martha Kapela said she was happy that her child was graduating to grade one because he was brought at the school from the time he started in baby class.

Ms Kapela said the school had been a good platform for her son and that he was able to identify the alphabet, numbers and also do some additions.

“I urge all parents to bring your children to Twatotela School they will be well taken care of just like l did when l brought my son to the school he was quite small but they were able to take care of him like their own it’s a good school,” she said.

Meanwhile Twatotela school head teacher Agness Zulu said it was a pleasure to witness the pre-grade pupils graduate to grade one.

Ms Zulu said that it was not easy for the graduates to learn how to hold crayons, colouring their books, counting numbers even writing their names.

“But now they have mastered all these things we are very happy to see them go to grade one next year 2018,” she said.
