HH ignoring UPND corruption

- By CHITE MTONGA

TROUBLE is brewing in the UPND Southern province with leaders accusing, Hakainde Hichilema of ignoring corruption and nepotism in the party.

The local leadership has also been accused of being preoccupied with jostling for power as they position themselves for the congress and the 2021 elections.

The top UPND leadership in Southern Province has been accused of fielding its own people in key vacant positions in Districts without holding elections as required by the party constitution, irate impeccable sources within the party have disclosed.

And the sources told the Daily Nation that the people of Sinanzongwe are unhappy with the conduct of its leadership accusing them of nepotism.

“As UPND in Sinazongwe we must refrain from being corrupt, the provincial officials that came to Sinazongwe are very corrupt and we do not need them anymore in our District,” said the source. The locals are also demanding the removal of the District secretary whom they say has held the position for 19 years, “he does things as if the party belongs to his family and he does not stay here, he stays in Kitwe, where the MP has employed him. How can someone who stays in Kitwe run the party in Sinazongwe and the president (HH) is quiet,” the source said.

“I think we will be worse than PF when we are elected into power because the MP has given a lot of powers to one person the District secretary, they have put a District chairman by the name of Sikalola, who cannot even express himself in English, and also the vice chairlady cannot even write or read and you expect to form government,” the source said.

The source said that Sinazongwe had gone down and the District secretary would destroy the party in Sinazongwe.

The source further stated that the District secretary and the council chairman had formed a cartel to fight some other members instead of uniting the party.

“Honorable Sialubalo is surrounded by wrong disciples, Siamunene and Raphael Muyanda never did that throughout their tenures of office,” the source said.
