PF POWER STRUGGLE SURFACES
… as youths protest in support of Mwila
A POWER struggle is brewing in the Patriotic Front with one camp suggesting that Secretary General, Davis Mwila should be replaced by Lusaka lawyer, Kevin Bwalya Fube popularly known as KBF.
Hundreds of PF youths in Lusaka yesterday thronged the party secretariat to express their displeasure over what they termed as Ephraim Shakafuswa’s continued campaign for the removal of Mr Mwila.
The protesting youths have demanded that Mr Shakafuswa leaves the PF of his own accord.
The PF youths warned that they would never entertain truant individuals like Mr. Shakafuswa in its structures with the provincial PF provincial youth chairperson Kennedy Kamba thanking the youths for showing solidarity to the party leadership.
“These people who are trying to cause confusion in the PF came from the UPND and within a year, they are here trying to create confusion in the party but we are not going to tolerate this kind of behaviour. As youths in Lusaka, we will continue to rally behind the party leadership and President Edgar Lungu,” Mr. Kamba said.
But Mr. Shakafuswa, who claimed to have received a message from someone close to him threatening unspecified action against him from the PF youths, said he had nothing against Mr. Mwila but that he had been overwhelmed in his position of party SG from pressures from outside and within the PF.
“Mr. Mwila is a good man and this is something no one can take away from him but he has been overwhelmed with the job in the face of the threats that PF faces both internally and externally. There is no need for the PF to send out cadres to harm me when the club has an option to exclude me,” Mr. Shakafuswa said.
And Mr Mwila has advised the youth and other members to be on the lookout for those who may knowingly and unknowingly sow seeds of discord as 2018 will see even a much more vibrant Patriotic Front (PF) with re-invigorated structures across the country, PF secretary general, Davies Mwila has cautioned party members.
Mr Mwila called on all Party members to continue upholding the discipline and loyalty that he said had brought the Party to where it was today.
He pointed out that the ruling Party had remained focused on implementing its founding vi- sion as captured in the 2016-2021 election manifesto and had refused to give in to distractions by those who seek its failure.
Mr Mwila said in a statement made available by PF media director, Sunday Chanda that a term in office was not for baseless arguments and counter arguments, but hard work aimed at developing Zambia and improving the lives of citizens without leaving anyone behind.
