MAGIC SMELL MBA LEAGUE TITLE

Magic have increased their chances of reclaiming the Midlands Basketball Associatio­n league title after walloping Munali Suns 71-57 in a week 22 fixture played over the weekend at NASDEC Sports complex in Lusaka.

The Obert Shamboko led Matero Magic commanded play in the four quarters of the game against Munali Suns to snatch their eighteenth win of the season.

The win pushed Magic to 39 points on the MBA League table, one point ahead of second placed UNZA Pacers who walloped LCC Looters 74-70 in a tightly contested week 22 game played at NASDEC.

Despite playing without their head coach Cuthbert Tembo who has been expelled by the Midlands Basketball Associatio­n for alleged gross misconduct, Pacers obtained their 17th win of the season to move to 38 points on the log.

In other fixtures, the Zambia Army sponsored Green Buffaloes suffered their sixth loss of the season after recording an 8488 defeat to Hawks.

The defeat relegated Buffaloes to fourth on the log with 34 points, five points behind leaders Matero Magic while Hawks moved to fifth with 31 points.

NAPSA Haricanes were 64-62 victors over Heroes Play United while Sain Mbuzi’s Nishati Denvers recorded their sixth victory of the season after walloping Intrepid Bull 77-74.

In the feminine category UNZA Honeys shocked their bitter rivals Matero Magic Sparks with a 74-72 defeat in a tightly contested fixture at NASDEC. The win over their rivals escalated Honeys to the summit of the MBA Feminine league table with 35 point, two points better than second placed Matero Magic Sparks.

Green Buffaloes Ladies club handed Nishati Shells their 18th defeat of the season with a 7418 thumping to move to fourth on the log with 31 points, four points behind leaders UNZA Honeys.

Meanwhile NAPSA Breeze increased their chances of snatching the feminine league title with a 71-36 beating of Hotspurs.

The triumph moved NAPSA Breeze to third on the log with 32 points, three points behind UNZA Honeys.
