Kambwili challenged

...test your CB popularity

- By BENNIE MUNDANDO

WE are itching to test Chishimba Kambwili’s popularity on the Copperbelt and the only way that will be achieved is by NDC advising its consultant to withdraw the case from court so that we can meet him head-on, says Copperbelt Province PF chairperson Stephen Kainga.

Mr. Kainga said panic had engulfed the opposition, especially the NDC and UPND, due to the PF’s popularity and they had resorted to peddling lies in their desperate hope to suffocate the ruling party by claiming that its structures on the Copperbelt would crumble.

He warned that the party in the province will never entertain Mr. Kambwili’s continued insults on President Edgar Lungu and that as long as he continued using unpalatable language towards the Head of State, he must be prepared to meet them head-on.

Mr. Kainga said there was a desperate attempt by opposition forces to isolate Coperbelt Minister Bowman Lusambo in order to fan confusion with the party structures in the region, but warned that such attempts were futile because the structures and the minister were in good working terms.

“To our friends in the NDC, we still maintain that let them tell their consultant Mr. Chishimba Kambwili to resign so that we test his popularity on the Copperbelt as he claims. We also want to put it on record that we have not changed our position on Mr. Kambwili. As long as he continues to insult the president, we shall take him on.

“We won't allow him to jump up and down on the Copperbelt. He will not have it easy. We will take him on politically and finish him even though he is already finished. We know that some people from the opposition have focused their energies on bringing division in the party within the Copperbelt, but this has failed. The PF leadership on the Copperbelt together with Mr. Lusambo have a good working relationship which has attracted more people to the party,” Mr. Kainga said.

He said that if Mr. Kambwili was a political heavyweight as he claimed, he would not have rushed to court when he was expelled from the party but would have allowed a byelection to take place.

“To us, we won't use any violence on him but take him on political battles. Mr. Kambwili is not a heavyweight to attack and disturb the president. It is us and our members that will take him on. He has pushed us enough, it’s time we take him on now,” he said.

He also took a swipe at Mr Tobias Mwamba, the man he described as a self-proclaimed Jerabo commander, for his claims that the PF was divided, saying the party was intact and united.
