Chief Mweemba attackers ticked off
CHIEF Mweemba is among the chiefs in the Southern Province who supports the principle that all chiefs ought to support the government of the day as stakeholders in national development, New Congress Party leader Peter Chanda has charged.
Mr Chanda said it was unfortunate that certain elements of politicians in this country had stepped so low to a level that when someone was perceived to be objective in their approach they were attacked for their objectivity.
The NCP leaders regretted the burning of chief Mweemba’s palace in Sinazongwe, saying such acts should not be entertained.
Mr Chanda said chief Mweemba was among traditional rulers who meant well for his people considering the development projects government was undertaking.
He said it was not wrong for anyone to praise the Government where it was due.
“We wish to state as the party that politics must be exercised in an objective and civil manner, and we want to urge those that advocated for Armageddon in this country to change their political style or they will be rendered irrelevant because the Zambian people are there to watch,” he said.
Mr Chanda said Zambia had had earned her political freedom from colonial masters, and therefore was no need at this moment, to fight or engage in illicit activities that do not give value to the development of the country.
“It is our duty to deliver economic development to our people because we all know that political emancipation is not enough without economic emancipation.
“If we are going to be killing and destroying people’s properties simply because they do not share our political views then it is regrettable,” he said.
Mr Chanda has however urged the Zambian people to avoid such type of politics as it does not auger well to the image of the country.
