- By KELVIN SIABANA

THE opposition National Democratic Congress party (NDC) says the party will not easily give up on it political ambitions despite being persecuted by the ruling party and others.

NDC national youth chairman Charles Kabwita who is Kambwili’s nephew said the opposition political party has come on board to provide true checks and balances to the ruling party for the political atmosphere to be levelled.

Mr Kabwita said NDC was not formed out of bitterness or hatred as was being speculated by some people.

The national youth chairman said NDC was formed because the party wants to serve the interest of the down trodden Zambians.

Mr Kabwita stated that it is disappointing for some people in the country to consider the party as a party of frustrated politicians.

He said the NDC wants a free and fair democratic environment where it can conduct its activities in an orderly and democratic manner without being intimidated by either the ruling party or any other stakeholder in the country, because the party is a party of laws not men.

Mr Kabwita said the role of the opposition political parties in the country was to ensure that the ruling party listens to the advice of the opposition political parties were.

He said the NDC was not a political enemy of any political party in the country but that the party was interested in making Zambia a better place for everyone.

The national youth chairman said political players should be loyal to the people they serve unlike the current situation were some politicians only respect the electorate during the campaign period but usually forget about them when they are in office.

Mr Kabwita said some politicians were only interested to become political players so that they can selfishly enrich themselves and their families at the expense of the poor voters
