NIP ‘FLUFIES’ IN THE BUD, COPS TOLD

- By KALOBWE BWALYA

A GROUP that has been terrorising and attacking people in Kalingalinga and Mtendere compounds and calling itself “Flufies” has now relocated to Salama Park, targeting people from Chainda and surrounding areas, it has been learnt.

In an interview with the Daily Nation, Chainda Ward 29 councillor Dorcas Moyo called on the Zambia Police to quickly move in and intensify night patrols because people were now living in fear and their movements were restricted.

Ms Moyo said the Flufies were attacking people as early as 18: 00hours, stealing and beating them up with some losing valuable items such as laptops, mobile phones and money.

Ms Moyo said she had information that the flufies where living and coming from Mtendere East, further calling upon the police in the area to quickly round them up before lives were lost. She said she had received several complaints from the residents of Chainda, Salama Park and surrounding areas concerning the presence of the notorious boys attacking and stealing things from them.

“I thank the police and the vibrant neighbourhood watch that has been on top of things to ensure that the residents were living in peace and harmony, but in Salama Park we have a challenges there is a group calling itself the flufies and they were attacking and grabbing things from them.

“And I am told that they are lodging in Mtendere East and have since talked to my ward chairman to visit the area and give me the feed back following a complaint from a certain lady that the flufies lived near her house,” said Ms Moyo.

And Ms Moyo said she has embarked on unblocking the drainages starting from Gardenia passing through Chainda basic school into the main drain.

Ms Moyo noted that people were dumping garbage anyhow, citing Chainama area behind Chainama College of Health Sciences.

She said the exercise which started yesterday would require full participation from all citizens because the amount of garbage which was being accumulated was a time bomb in the ward.

“People from PHI and Mtendere dump garbage in our area at Chainama College and that has made our ward to look dirty, but I will not allow people dumping garbage anyhow and will ensure that anyone found dumping garbage at undesignated places will be arrested,” she warned.
